Frequently Asked Questions

When is the family reunion?

Friday July 19th-Sunday July 21st 2024

What hotel are we staying at?

The Hilton St Petersburg Bayfront is located right on the Tampa Bay with views of the water as well as walking distance from the heart of downtown and the St Pete Pier. (333 1st St SE)

What will the hotel rate be?

$165/night. We have a room block of 35 rooms reserved with the option to add more.

Can we stay at another hotel or Airbnb?

Yes, I have additional hotels listed in the accomodations tab on our family reunion website.

Why is the hotel choice downtown and not by the beach?

Downtown St Pete is a thriving city. You will have walking distance access to many of the main attractions that our city has to offer. In addition, the beach hotels will be going at higher rates than downtown. Between things to do, night life, and walkability, downtown will provide a more favorable experience for everyone.

What airport should we fly into?

Tampa international airport (TPA) is the best option if you are flying out of a main airport. However, some smaller airports fly cheaper into Clearwater (PIE). Definitely consider both airports when making your bookings.

Is St Petersburg safe?

Yes! The whole downtown and beach areas of St Petersburg are incredibly safe. There are a few pockets of rough areas on the south side of town, but you will have no need to venture through those areas or find yourself stumbling through them on accident. There is a homeless population in St Petersburg, but they are polite and keep to themselves for the most part. You should feel confident bringing your family to St Pete from a safety standpoint.

How can we get around in St Pete?

St Pete has several options for transportation including walking, electric scooter rental, bike rental, free trolley loop, and rideshare apps. In addition we will have shuttle bus rental for Friday and Saturday’s events. A detailed transportation summary will be sent along with our itinerary to help you plan your stay.

Will reunion activities be friendly to the elderly and children?

Yes! All scheduled events are friendly to all ages. Every event space will be climate controlled and handicap accessible. Kids will find themselves entertained with things to do and see while in St Petersburg.

Can I make a donation to cover some reunion costs so that it can be budget friendly for everyone?

Yes! This is a wonderful option and will give us some wiggle room for everyone to have a positive experience. If you would like to make a donation, please email Brittany with your proposal and she will provide receipt for your donation.

How can I be involved in the planning process?

Several have expressed to me their interest in assisting with planning. I will be hosting a Zoom meeting in October with willing volunteers to delegate planning tasks to those who wish to be involved. Stay tuned for more!
