Thursday (Optional Activities)

3. Sunset at Paradise Grille

Mike is looking to coordinate a night fishing event out of Pass-a-Grille Beach, FL. You will fish the gulf floor in hopes of catching various snappers and grouper. This event will likely take place 8pm-12am. Cost will likely be $50/person. Rods and bait will be provided. Kids over 5 are welcome. Information about this event will be sent out by Mike in the coming weeks. More details to come.

Brittany will be coordinating a paddle boarding/kayaking trip. Led by Going the Distance Tours, they will guide us under the moonlight in hopes of coming across bio-luminescent plankton. This event is about 4 hours long, 2 hours on the water. Event will run between 7 and 11pm out of Safety Harbor, FL. You can choose between a single paddle board, single kayak, or double kayak. Max 25 individuals. Kids 12 and older can participate. Cost will likely be $45/person. Information about this event will be sent out by Brittany in the coming weeks. More details to come. 

Our favorite place to watch the sunset is on Pass-a-Grille beach at Paradise Grille. (900 Gulf Way, Pass-a-Grille Beach, FL 33706.)

Snack shack is available to purchase dinner and drinks. (We love their grouper sandwich The beach is right next to your dining table so you can swim, play, relax, eat, and listen to acoustic live music. Stick around for sunset where every night they ring the bell to close out the evening.

Friday Itinerary:

1. Sunset Meet & Greet

Join us for a Sundby Meet & Greet on St Pete Beach. Engage in a family tree activity, compete in St Pete Trivia, and enjoy a gulf coast sunset. Venue is indoor and outdoor with access to the beach.

Dinner an drink tickets will be provided. BYOB encouraged after that.

This is a private event space with a free parking lot for those driving. Transportation will be up to your responsibility to get to and from this event. 

Dress Code: Casual Beach Wear

2. John's Pass and Dinner Cruise

Meet at the end of the St Pete Pier for a Sundby Family Photo!

Get there at 9:00am sharp so we can grab the photo by 9:15am and enjoy the rest of the day's activities.

Please plan ahead! There are multiple ways to get to the pier. We are meeting at the very end on the grassy hill right outside the Driftwood Cafe. Look for the Norway flag to help direct you!

Getting to the pier:

  • It is a 20 minute walk from the Hilton hotel to the start of the pier

  • It is a 10 minute walk from the start of the pier to the end of the pier

  • There are 3 trams on the pier that can take you down and back for free to help speed up your trip to the end and protect you from the elements.

  • The St Pete downtown looper picks up and drops off right outside our hotel and the pier entrance. It is free to ride, runs every 15 mins and is a quick ride to the pier. See schedule here.

  • You can park at the pier. It is metered parking lots.

Wear your Sundby T-shirts and sunglasses! (we will be facing Eastward and uphill for our photo)

Explore John's Pass Boardwalk for shopping, beach, and attractions.

There is a lot to do in this area. Over one hundred merchants inhabit the Village with unique retail shopping, a variety of restaurants, the local fishing fleet, dolphin watching and shelling tours, boat rentals, parasailing and jet skiing. The beach is a short stroll away. https://johnspass.com/

We plan to have shuttle bus service for Saturday. More details to come on that.

If you are driving:

6:30pm Board the Calypso Breeze

Our dinner cruise boards at Hubbard's Marina. Boarding begins at 6:30pm and boat departs at 7:00pm.

2.5 hour cruise on the intra-coastal waters. Three decks (two enclosed for dinner seating and a top observation deck) Handicap accessible.

House DJ entertain with a variety of musical selections.

Hotel checkout is at 11:00am, but they are willing to hold bags free of charge in the storage closet during our brunch. Please plan ahead if you want late checkout.

The Von Arx's would like to host you for an after party at the Island Grille pool. Pool is accompanied with changing rooms, lounge chairs, and a restaurant.

We will be paying the cover charge for everyone who wants pool access as a gift from your hosts. We will need accurate headcount in advance.

A 4 hour excursion from downtown St Pete to Egmont Key! 

Take a 60-minute ride from the Pier to Paradise. You’ll sail by the beautiful shorelines of St. Pete, pass under the stunning Sunshine Skyway bridge and perhaps see a dolphin or two! 

You will have 2 hours on Egmont Key to explore the pristine beaches, historic lighthouse, ruins of Ft. Dade, and the amazing wildlife before your return trip. 

Note: You will have to step into shallow water when going on the island.
